Pacific Gas' seventh very large ethane carrier (H2649) has returned to port after completing all sea trials, transitioning from construction to delivery.

During the vessel's construction, Pacific Gas' onsite supervision team worked closely with Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. to achieve multiple efficiency milestones, including shaft line optic sighting completed within 26 days in dry dock, engine room coating finished before launching, and sea trials commenced within 80 days. Notably, this marked the first time that all four cargo tanks were closed and all mooring tests were fully cleared prior to sea trials. Additional tests conducted during the sea trials included remote level measurement for ballast tanks, tightness inspections for cargo tanks and cargo holds, and tests of remaining cargo alarms, paving the way for the vessel's upcoming delivery and operation.

The vessel is equipped with Jiangnan Shipbuilding's proprietary BrilliancE® Type B containment system, which offers low boil-off rates, reduced maintenance costs, high insulation efficiency and minimal cargo residue. It is capable of carrying a range of liquefied gases including ethane, ethylene and LPG. Powered by an ethane-capable dual-fuel main engine and a shaft generator, this low-carbon vessel, which utilizes green alternative energy, not only meets the IMO's Phase IV EEDI requirements but also reduces sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions by 99% and carbon oxide (COx) emissions by 18% compared to conventional designs. This enables the vessel to fully comply with the maritime industry's strictest environmental regulations while maintaining optimal economic performance.
