2026/01/09
  • Pacific Gas has taken delivery of its first very large ethane carrier (VLEC) for 2026, the "PACIFIC INEOS BATTLEGROUND" on 8th January, marking a successful start to the company’s newbuilding program this year.

  • The vessel was built by Jiangnan Shipyard, with Pacific Gas’s onsite supervision team working closely with the yard throughout the construction, monitoring key processes and milestones while efficiently coordinating manpower, equipment, and material resources. The project introduced several innovations, including an integrated equipment/piping module design and the use of the new iGIX digital system. These advancements contributed to improved efficiency in tank strength testing and optimized condition of inclination and weight tests, strengthening the vessel’s operational readiness.

  • This delivery represents the first "Version 2.0" VLEC designed and constructed by Jiangnan Shipyard for Pacific Gas, featuring 196 technical enhancements over the earlier Version 1.0 design. With a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters, the vessel offers increased efficiency in ethane transportation. The addition supports the expansion of Pacific Gas’s ethane fleet and aligns with the industry’s shift toward specialized, low carbon shipping solutions, effectively strengthening the company's comprehensive strength and core competitiveness in ethane transportation.
