2026/04/22
  • Pacific Gas (Hong Kong) Holdings Limited has announced that its ninth 99,000-cbm very large ethane carrier (VLEC), hull H2777, has "successfully completed" its sea trial mission. The vessel has now officially moved from the construction phase into the delivery preparation stage.

  • The newbuilding is the first ethane carrier from the cooperation between the company and Wanhua Chemical Group. Throughout the construction process, the company’s site supervision team worked in close collaboration with Jiangnan Shipyard to maintain precision management over the project schedule and quality, which efficiently completed all navigation test verifications in due time. The vessel is currently ready for an official naming and delivery in May. Once delivered, the vessel will enter a long-term charter to provide stable feedstock transport for Wanhua Chemical’s expanding operations.

  • The vessel showcases Jiangnan Shipyard’s proprietary "BrilliancE" Type-B cargo containment system. Designed as a low-carbon solution leveraging green alternative fuels, the VLEC features an ethane-powered dual-fuel main engine and a shaft generator. These technical specifications ensure the ship meets EEDI Phase 4 standards, achieving a 99% reduction in SOx and an 18% cut in carbon emissions. According to the company, the design balances the world's most stringent emission mandates with "optimal economic performance," providing a robust foundation for safe and stable future operations.
