PACIFIC GAS has completed the construction of its next-generation “BrilliancE II” aluminum alloy Type-B containment system, paving the way for its debut on a new series of ultra-large ethane carriers (VLECs).

-
The technology milestone was achieved through close cooperation between the company’s site supervision team and Jiangnan Shipyard. To bring the "BrilliancE II" system to commercial reality, the joint team tackled several engineering bottlenecks under a "lean and fit-for-purpose" production principle. Key areas of focus included raw material sourcing for the aluminum tanks, advanced structural calculations, friction stir welding, MIG welding, and new assembly techniques.

Compared to earlier generations of VLECs, the new vessels featuring the upgraded cargo tanks will see a comprehensive performance boost, boasting optimized speed, better draft efficiency, and lower fuel consumption.

Looking ahead, Pacific Gas plans to double down on the clean energy sector as shipping faces mounting decarbonization pressure. The company expects to roll out dual-fuel propulsion and energy-saving devices across its fleet to drive its transition toward smarter, highly specialized, and lower-emission vessels, aiming to secure a stronger footing in the global green energy supply chain.
